1. Platypus
Platypuses are semi aquatic animals that are native to Australia and live in freshwater rivers and lakes in the east of Australia. It is one of the 5 living monotremes in the world, which is a mammal that lays eggs. They have a pliable bill, webbed feet, thick woolly fur to keep the animal warm and is 40-60cm in size. Their diet consists of small insects such as worms. They can live up to 12 years of age and it is estimated to be only a few thousand platypuses left in Australia.
2. Koala
Koalas are small bear like looking marsupials (a mammal that are carried in a mothers pouch when they are young) that live in eucalyptus trees in NSW, QLD, VIC and SA. It looks bear like but is a lot smaller and is covered in thick grey fur. Their diet is eucalyptus leaves and are 1 of 2 living animals that can survive off a diet only consisting of eucalyptus leaves. They live up to 18 years and there is about 43 000 in the wild in Australia.

The Red kangaroo is a large marsupial that can be found in every state and territory in Australia ( NSW, QLD, VIC, NT, SA, WA, ACT and TAS). They have a long powerful tail, strongly developed hind limbs used for jumping, thick red fur. They are herbivores which means that they eat vegetation; they eat such food as grass, young shoots and small shrubs. They can live up to 6 years in the wild and there is over 4 480 580 in Australia.

A waratah is a small shrub that has large feathery petaled red flowers that belongs to the proteaceae family. It is known to be the symbol of NSW and can be found there, VIC and TAS.

A generally large tree that are tall often with grey trunks and long thin green leaves. The belong to the myrtle family and can be found all over Australia.
